Students in St. Catharines Collegiate’s Specialized School to Community(SSTC) program develops valuable skills that maximize their independence and integration into their local communities.Through the Community Involvement course, students with diverse abilities are extending their learning and contributing to local businesses through direct experiences with some of Downtown St. Catharines’s amazing community partners.

Adam’s Flora,Brindle,Caffé Gatti,Helen’s Deli,Kalsada Coffee Bar,Mahtay Café &Lounge,{pocket}CHANGE,Prism Hair Salon,Rise Above Restaurant,Score Pizza, and the St. Catharines Public Library transformed their day-to-day operations into lessons in communication, customer service, food service, cleaning, time management, and teamwork.

This partnership highlights the impact of inclusive education and local businesses working together. The commitment of downtown entrepreneurs has left a lasting mark on our students, supporting their independence while adding to the vibrant and welcoming spirit of St. Catharines.

These community partners gave students meaningful responsibility, supportive mentors, and the confidence that comes from knowing their contributions made a difference. At the same time, the organizations gained enthusiastic support and the satisfaction of nurturing the city’s future workforce.

We look forward to expanding these transformative experiences with our downtown partners next year.
