Holiday Parking 2022
With thanks to the City of St. Catharines parking in Downtown St. Catharines at all metered spaces and lots will be free from Monday, December 12th to Friday, December 30th, 2022.
Additionally, the Ontario Street Garage is included in the promotion – pass for garage is required and can be picked up from businesses or the St. Catharines Downtown Association office at 80 King Street, suite 14.
Free parking starts at noon each day and is available in 3-hour increments.
Metered Parking
All City meters have a three-hour maximum daily parking limit from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at a rate of $1.75 per hour (effective January 1, 2020). Metered parking is free outside those hours, except between the hours of 2 a.m. to 6 a.m., where parking is prohibited. Quarters, loonies and toonies are accepted at City meters and dispenser lots. HST is included in all quoted parking lot and garage fees. Credit card payments are now accepted at dispenser lots and at a number of on-street dispensers.
Parking at the Ontario Street garage and the Garden Park/Carlisle Street garage is available at $1.75 per hour, Monday to Friday 8:00am to 6:00pm (maximum daily rate $14.00). Free public parking at the garages outside these hours. Payment options for each parking lot and garage are included in the parking map.
Please be advised that the sale of parking tokens from the St. Catharines Downtown Association has been discontinued.
Honk Mobile
Downtown visitors have the option to pay for parking with a smart phone using the Honk Mobile app at some of the City’s metered parking spots and lots in Downtown St. Catharines. Use the Honk app to search, pay for and top up parking. Honk also send notifications to users when parking is about to expire and allows them to buy more time from their devices.
The Honk app can be downloaded for free on both iOS and Android at www.honkmobile.com or via the App Store or Google Play. Honk app users in St. Catharines are permitted to park for up to three hours in the parking lots surrounding City Hall and Market Square. Metered parking spots are intended for short-term visits and have three-hour limits. Honk users will also pay a 35 cent fee per transaction along with normal parking rates. One hour of parking will cost $2.10 using the parking app. Three hours of parking will cost $5.60.
Special Event Parking
Special parking prices may apply when events are taking place at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre or Meridian Centre. Pricing is $5 at parking garages and the Head Street and Garden Park parking lots, and $10 at IceDogs Way parking lot, by cash only, paid on entrance.
Monthly Parking Permits
In Downtown St. Catharines, monthly parking is available at City owned parking lots for a nominal fee. Due to the high demand for parking in the downtown core, all parking permits are issued on a first come, first serve basis. Purchase a monthly parking permit for a surface lot through the following methods
- Credit card. Call Citizen First on 905.688.5600, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Cheque. Please place in the mail slot at City Hall’s James Street entrance.
- In-person, by appointment, at City Hall
