Welcome Cacao Crémeux, a new patisserie that’s offering mouthwatering and decadent desserts. The owner Akhil Sebastian brings a piece of France to the Downtown core with this venture.
Akhil’s culinary journey began in 2009, back home in India. As a Hotel Management student, he discovered his love for not only desserts but pastries especially. Akhil particularly enjoys the chemistry and molecular gastronomy aspect that comes with baking. Using precise formulas and concocting delicious results entranced him. Dolce de leche is his favourite dessert to bake because of this. Deciding to pursue his passion, Akhil moved to Dubai and worked with 5-star hotels being mentored by top-tier French chefs.
With that first-hand knowledge and experience, Akhil then set his sights on the Niagara Region to join Niagara College’s Culinary Management program and work for the Hilton. After fully immersing himself in his craft and being inspired by the French chefs from his past, the idea to create a pastry brand began to form.
Cacao Crémeux opened its doors in February 2023. Ahkil chose Downtown St. Catharines for the location because it’s home to an amazing diversity of cuisines. This patisserie provides a wide variety of different baked goods like choux puffs, peanut praline, macarons, whipped ganache, smoothies, and more gourmet delights all bursting with flavour. Dine-in, to-go, and catering options are available. Akhil prides himself on using 100% professional-grade products to ensure that every creation meets high-quality standards.
