This Member Info Session took place August 2nd Learn about upcoming developments in the downtown, how they will impact your business, the new Vacancy Registry Bylaw and the Community Benefits Charge. Capitalizing on Large Community Events: Opportunities and Strategies for Downtown Businesses

In this presentation, Tamara and Mike share an event overview of the upcoming Born & Raised concert series, happening in Montebello Park this June 30 – July 3. With tens of thousands of visitors expected over the long weekend, Tamara and Mike share opportunities and strategies for downtown businesses to capitalize on the influx of potential customers, and share tips and tools for streamlining your operations and preparing your staff. This presentation is most helpful for service-based businesses, including restaurant and retail operations.

SCDA Micro Grants
The SCDA is excited to provide additional support to our members while also enhancing the downtown experience. As such, we are introducing two one time micro-matching grants for our members:
Beautification and Accessibility Micro Grant – Deadline to apply May 20th. This 50% matching grant for up to $1,500 this can be used to add planters, a mural, an accessibility ramp, a bench, improved lighting or more. Items must provide a benefit to the Downtown streetscape and experience.

Patio Micro Grant – Deadline to apply May 16th. (**EXTENDED) This 50% matching grant will allow members to work with RAMM Design to purchase a custom built accessible patio. For a full RAMM patio the overall cost is $1656 plus tax. With this matching grant it would be just $828 plus tax.
