Born in Wales, Oliver Manning is one of the most successful upcoming guitarists of this generation, leading a busy career as a solo concert artist in high demand.
Oliver was personally selected by John Williams to become a Julian Bream Trust Scholar, supporting his postgraduate studies alongside the BBC at the Royal College of Music in London, under Gary Ryan and Chris Stell.
Oliver launched his professional career with a solo debut in Ischia, Italy for the William Walton Foundation, alongside recitals at the Wigmore Hall, Kings Place, Dora Stoutzker Hall, Budleigh Music Festival, Bath Guitar Festival, and La Herradura Granada. Shortly after, Oliver gave his concerto debut performing Concierto de Aranjuez with the Cardiff Chamber Orchestra.
In 2023, Oliver graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama with First-Class Honours studying under Helen Sanderson & John Mills. During his studies, Oliver won a selection of awards and competitions including the John Mills solo guitar competition, the Orpheus voice and guitar competition, and the Worshipful Livery Company of Wales award for music.
In 2022, Oliver toured Spain performing the world premiere of the ‘Farewell and Adieu’ duo guitar concerto composed by Gerald Garcia. Since then, Oliver has continued with his mission to share new works for the guitar, giving regular world premieres by up-and-coming composers across the UK.
Oliver performs on a guitar built in 2024 by the Canadian luthier Evan Kingma.
