Downtown St. Catharines is a cultural hub of activity, connected to over 90km of trail networks including both Merritt & Twelve Trail that run along Twelve Mile Creek, making it the perfect destination for cycling enthusiasts.
The St. Catharines Downtown Association (SCDA) and Cycling Leadership Committee are excited to announce that the downtown business improvement area (BIA) has recently been designated an Ontario by Bike (OBB) certified business area making it the first BIA to have this designation in Niagara.
Many of our business members are excited by the news. Melisa Parkins and Stuart Hillman, owners of {pocket}CHANGE & Score Pizza shared that “The BIA is on the doorsteps of Twelve Mile Creek – a popular hotspot for cyclists. We are thrilled downtown St. Catharines received Ontario by Bike certification, ensuring a connection between our businesses and this beautiful natural resource.”
Lindsay Taylor, Sustainability Director for the SCDA said “More people are looking for decarbonized modes of transportation to reduce their environmental impact. The OBB certification plays an important role in supporting community members looking to access the downtown by bike.”
We are excited to represent Niagara and join the network of 19 business areas that are currently registered.
