Downtown Promenade

The St. Catharines Downtown Association is excited to announce the return of pedestrianized streets with the launch of the Downtown Promenade featuring 18 weeks of community based activities and events. The Downtown Promenade will kick-off on the first weekend of June with Go Green, an environmental sustainability focused event, and will continue to run until Oct. 1.

Open Streets were introduced to downtown in 2018 and incorporated on a larger scale by the SCDA during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide a safe space for everyone to gather and enjoy downtown businesses. With an overwhelmingly positive response from the surrounding community and downtown businesses the SCDA looks forward to continuing to welcome everyone back into the heart of the city for the biggest year yet.

Pedestrian zones will be located on James Street (from King Street to St. Paul Street) and St. Paul Street (from Court Street – Bond Street and Carlisle Street to James Street) on Fridays 4 p.m. – 11 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. – 11 p.m.. These locations and times may slightly vary depending on special events happening in and around downtown throughout the summer.

We are looking for vendors and performers to participate. Opportunities are updated often. Stay up to date with the most accurate information on www.mydowntownpromenade.ca , SCDA social channels and sign up for our public newsletter.

“The Downtown Promenade is an initiative that puts people first, providing an accessible open space for families and community to come together and enjoy one another and everything our vibrant downtown has to offer, including an incredible line-up of engaging programming.” – Robin McPherson, St. Catharines Downtown Association Board City Council Representative (past Chair), Co-owner at Janice and Robin Digital Communications
