2022 Downtown Promenade launch.

St. Catharines Town Crier Mark Molnar rings in the Downtown Promenade, 18 weekends filled with family-friendly entertainment and fun taking place Downtown St. Catharines.


Partners of the St. Catharines Downtown Association, dignitaries, and community members gathered Friday evening for a Mayoral ribbon cutting ceremony to launch the 2022 Downtown Promenade in partnership with the City of St. Catharines.

Saturday kicked off with Go Green! An environmental-sustainability focussed event that featured the official launch of 14 pollinator gardens brought downtown by ncStewards – a group of environmentally focused Niagara College students. Visitors partook in green-themed activities including a waste toss, seed swap and kids activities by Dena Colling Gelentso. The James Street Market also kicked off – they will be hosting vendors every Saturday from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. until October 1st. Performances through-out the day included Robert Alfieri, Chicks on Sticks stilt walker Yvette Duff, Doug Mundy and Glendon Smith of the Niagara Jazz Festival, and the PK Hummingbird Steel Orchestra presented by the Niagara Folk Arts Festival. The night closed off with a dance party by DJ Dave Stiles at the Niagara Artists Centre Papa Tee Show Mobile.

The Bloemenmarkt, a dutch-inspired flower market in partnership with the City of St. Catharines will take place June 18th.
