The Halloween Candy Trail returns on Saturday, October 25, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.,presented by Coral Kids Dentistry & Braces.This annual family event invites the community to enjoy an afternoon of free trick-or-treating at more than 50 participating downtown businesses.
This event has become one of the region’s most popular family traditions. Last year’s Candy Trail saw record attendance with thousands of trick-or-treaters visiting downtown streets. We are expecting another fantastic turnout this year. Families are encouraged to register in advance to help ensure we’re prepared for all the spooky fun ahead.
“Every year, our downtown businesses go above and beyond, coming together for what has become one of the community’s favourite events,” says Kat Dodge, Executive Director of the SCDA. “The collaboration among our businesses truly reflects the heart of downtown, a family-friendly and welcoming place filled with one-of-a-kind shops, restaurants, and experiences that make our core so special.”
In addition to trick-or-treating, families can look forward to a full day of downtown activities, including haunted houses, crafts, costumed character visits, a magic show sponsored by Oxford Learning, photo opportunities, and more. The celebration also features a Touch-a-Truck display with St. Catharines Fire Services and the Niagara Regional Police Service, as well as vendors and activities throughout James Street.
“We’ve really enjoyed hosting one of the haunted houses at Silver Spire each year and seeing more and more downtown businesses get involved,” says Karen Orlandi, Minister at Silver Spire United Church. “It’s amazing to watch families fill the streets, sharing in the creativity and joy that make this event so special.”

Families can also enjoy a full day of downtown activities before and after the Candy Trail. The St. Catharines Farmers Market will be open in the morning, followed by a Magic Show at the Farmers Market Stage and Spooktacular STEAM activities at the St. Catharines Public Library in the afternoon.
