    Downtown Safety Initiative / Inspections

    NIagara Regional Police

    In partnership with the Ontario Provincial Police and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario the Niagara Regional Police Service #1 District has launched a community safety initiative directed at monitoring and improving safety in late night liquor licensed establishments in the downtown area of St. Catharines. This initiative hopes to elicit continued commitment from the community of bar owners and operators, belonging to the St. Catharines Downtown Association, in providing a safe environment for residents and visitors of the downtown core. To accomplish its objectives this initiative will apply AGCO's risk-based approach to the regulation of liquor sales licences.…

Challenged to come up with an icewine-inspired creation for the St. Catharines Downtown Association’s Winter Downtown D'Lish event, Mario Ciccarelli and his team have invented an icewine milkshake. The shake, which is just under $10, features a shot of icewine, melded with some other favourite flavours. The St. Catharines Downtown Association has put a new spin on its holiday celebrations this year, and is bringing some new activities downtown for the festive season.
