Enhanced Service Area Collection

Tuesday:
• Grey and Blue Cart, weekly collection 9 a.m., no container limit

Tuesday and Thursday:
• Garbage collection, 5 p.m ., 7 bag/can limit per property

Thursday:
• Grey and Blue Box, weekly collection 5 p.m., no container limit

Friday:
• Green Bin and Cart, weekly collection 9 a.m., no container limit

Saturday and Sunday:
• Garbage collection, 7 a.m., 7 bag/can limit per property

Greater Downtown St. Catharines Business Area (DBA) Collection

Tuesday:
• Grey and Blue Cart, weekly collection 9 a.m., no container limit

Friday:
• Grey and Blue Box, weekly collection 9 a.m., no container limit
• Green Bin and Cart, weekly collection 9 a.m., no container limit
• Garbage, weekly collection 9 a.m., 7 bag/can limit per property

Evening and Weekend Collection

Materials must be at the curb by 5 p.m. but not before 4 p.m. for Tuesday and Thursday collection and by 7 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday for collection.

Carts may be ordered by completing the online form or by calling the Waste Info-Line at 905-356-4141.

Cart Sizes

  • Blue and Grey Recycling Carts are 95 Gallon
  • Green Organic Carts are 32 Gallon
  • 64 Gallon Green Organic Carts are available for locations with lighter organic material (flowers) as approved by Niagara Region

Purchase Blue Boxes, Grey Boxes and Green Bins

Blue and Grey Boxes and Green Bins may be purchased on regular business days in St. Catharines:

228 Glendale Avenue
Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Saturday to Sunday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

495 Welland Avenue
Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Saturday to Sunday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Weight Limits

  • Blue and Grey Boxes and Green Bins must not exceed 22.7 kg (SO lbs.) when full
  • 32 Gallon Green Carts must not exceed 50 kg (110 lbs.) when full
  • 64 Gallon Green Carts must not exceed 102 kg (224 lbs.) when full
  • 95 Gallon Blue and Grey Recycling Carts must not exceed 151 kg (332.5 lbs.) when full

Garbage Bags/Containers

  • Bag, garbage can or bundle cannot exceed 91 cm (36″) in height, 61 cm (24″) in diameter or 22.7 kg (SO lbs.) when full
  • All cans used for garbage must have handles on each side of container
  • Bags placed in cans must not exceed lip of container

Important Reminders

Curbside collection of large household items and appliances is not available to commercial or mixed-use properties including those in the Greater Downtown Business Area or the Enhanced Service Area.

Street litter and recycling receptacles are intended for use by the general public and are not to be used by businesses or tenants for their waste or recycling. Those failing to comply are subject to fines in accordance with the Waste Management By-Law.
